CROSS-LISTING, CROSS-INSTITUTIONAL STUDY AND OTHER SECRETS They Don't Tell you!
CROSS-LISTING
So what is cross-listing??? Cross listing means you can pick a subject from a different department, and if the Profs think there is enough overlap with Geography or it's a good contribution to Geography, they can sign off to have it count to your major even though it's not from the Geography department. For example, if you look at the second year subject selection of the Physical-Environmental subject Pathway here you'll see Soil Science subjects that are offered through the Agriculture and Environment Faculty that count towards a Geography Major even though they aren't strictly Geography subjects. I know what you're thinking though, and the answer is NO! Unfortunately you can't double up and have the same subject count to 2 different majors. One for One we're sorry kids!

Cross-Institutional Study
Ever wanted to study Geography related subjects at another University anywhere in Australia and have the subjects counted towards your degree at USYD.... Well its relatively easy to make happen if you so wish! All you have to do is apply for cross-institutional study well before the start of semester/or during the semester before you plan to go so that you can get start the ball rolling.
Here's How To Apply!
Step #1
Contact the host University you want to go to to see if you can study the relevant subject via cross-institutional study.
If they say YES! Great your chances are looking good!

farm to be more sustainable and nature mimicking!
Step#2
Obtain detailed unit of study outlines for the units you wish to study at the host University.
This must include information on contact hours, a summary of lecture content, practical content, textbooks, and mode of assessment.
Step #3
Fill out the Cross-Institutional Study form below and submit it with the Unit of Study outlines to the Faculty of Science Office. You might be asked to come in for an interview with the Undergraduate Associate Dean to discuss the reasons for your application. But in my experience that didn't happen and it was a smooth and easy process!
IMPORTANT!
Deadline for submission of Cross-Institutional Study forms is sometime in February for commencing subjects in Semester 1 and sometime in June for commencing subjects in Semester 2.
Step #4
If you get a BIG YES from the Science Faculty then you need to contact the host University and proceed with enrolling as a cross-institutional inbound student at their University.
Make sure you don't miss their deadline for enrollment!
Now you take off and go study where and what you please!
Step#5
When you finish the subjects you go visit the USYD Science Faculty with a copy of your results/transcript and apply to get the credit points transferred for your degree!
